New Austrian power-to-gas project with methanation

On September 7th, 2017 the power-to-gas technology supplier McPhy announced a contract win with RAG to deliver an electrolyzer for a power-to-gas plant with methanation in Austria.

The Austrian underground storage specialist RAG has developed an innovative approach to produce and store green methane from hydrogen generated by renewable energies and micro-bacteria. In the new power-to-gas project, the synthetic natural gas will be produced and stored directly in a natural gas reservoir more than 1,000 m underground, then fed into the pipeline network to be delivered on demand to consumers.
